This summer Ian will do eight shows in the UK, Holland and Belgium with the Mississippi Mudbloods, a dream team of contemporary blues and roots-rock talent. The idea first emerged last year when brothers Cody and Luther Dickinson of the North Mississippi Allstars joined Ian at the Belgium Rhythm & Blues Festival for the first incarnation of the Mississippi Mudbloods. The result was a powerful musical chemistry and for many, the best performance at the festival.
Ian first worked with Cody Dickinson in 2010 when Cody produced and played on Ian’s album, The Skinny, recorded at Zebra Ranch, the Dickinson family studio in Coldwater, Mississippi. That album is nominated for Best Contemporary Album in the 2012 Blues Music Awards (which will be announced in Memphis on May 10th). Guesting on The Skinny is Grammy award winner Alvin Youngblood Hart, another resident of the north Mississippi area.
